Report: GTA 6's Art Production Team Is 10x Bigger Than GTA 5's, Schreier Says

ComicBook reports, citing Jason Schreier, that GTA 6's art production team grew from five or six developers on GTA 5 to 65 — a 10x jump hinting at the game's enormous asset scale.

What this means

  • A 10x bigger art team means a 10x bigger asset workload — expect a denser, more varied Leonida.
  • Less asset reuse: the world should feel hand-built rather than copy-pasted.
  • Matches the broader picture of GTA 6 as the biggest-budget game ever made.

Key facts

  • Date: October 19, 2026
  • Source: Jason Schreier (via ComicBook and Khelnow, from his Post Game video interview)
  • Claim: GTA 5 art production team was 5–6 devs; GTA 6's is 65
  • Status: unconfirmed by Rockstar

The team that produces GTA 6's art assets is reportedly ten times the size of the one that did the same job on GTA 5. ComicBook reported on October 19, citing Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, that the art production team went from five to six developers on Grand Theft Auto 5 to 65 people deep on Grand Theft Auto VI.

Khelnow independently reported the same figures from Schreier's video interview, adding that the larger workforce helped Rockstar improve productivity and distribute the workload. The detail surfaced in Schreier's 18-minute Post Game interview recorded after his visit to Rockstar North.

Why it matters: if the art production team grew 10x, the volume of art assets being created for GTA 6 grew by at least that much — pointing to a bigger, more detailed world with less reused content. It also lines up with Bloomberg's earlier reporting that Rockstar's total headcount nearly doubled to 4,711 while building the game.

The caveat: Rockstar itself has not confirmed the number. This is Schreier's reporting, relayed by two outlets — not an official Rockstar statement. Treat it as a strong report, not a confirmed fact.

Schreier's claim from his Rockstar North visit, reported by two independent outlets; Rockstar has not officially confirmed the figure. Would be confirmed by a Rockstar production statement or debunked if Rockstar disputes the number.
