What this means
- This is demand, not supply: fans want a physical GTA 6 badly enough that sellers are manufacturing collectible discs to fill the gap.
- Don't buy it expecting a game — these are display pieces. Wait for an official Rockstar physical-edition announcement before spending.
- If Rockstar does announce a real disc version, expect it to be a global announcement, not a single Chinese retailer's photo.
Key facts
- Listed: “Commemorative Set Model” GTA 6 PS5 disc set, Standard + Ultimate Edition cases, by a Chinese-language seller
- The catch: discs are unplayable — cosmetic collectible only, per Notebookcheck's report
- Red flag: artwork credited to “Lionheart”; no evidence of a Take-Two/Rockstar agreement for the set
- Physical status: no real GTA 6 PS5/Xbox disc confirmed in any region; GTA 5 was never officially distributed in mainland China
A Chinese-language retailer is advertising what looks like the physical GTA 6 release fans have been asking for — with one enormous catch. According to Notebookcheck, a photo shared on social media shows a “Commemorative Set Model” offering GTA 6 PS5 discs in both Standard and Ultimate Edition cases. The discs are cosmetic only — they won't play on any console.
The listing even shows an Ultimate Edition box, despite Rockstar's Ultimate Edition being a digital-only release. A content card in the set likely carries an unredeemable code, and the PS5 discs sport different labels depending on the edition. The image credits the artwork to “Lionheart” — though Notebookcheck notes it is questionable whether that branding agency has any agreement with Take-Two Interactive or Rockstar to produce the set.
Context matters here: GTA 6 has not been confirmed for physical release in any region, and GTA 5 was never officially distributed in mainland China. The ad may instead be targeting Hong Kong, Taiwan or Singapore, where the Chinese language is an option for players.
For now, collectors hoping for a real disc are out of luck. Notebookcheck points to the official $400 Vice City Box — a merch bundle with a Macca The Gator figure and Oakley sunglasses — as the closest thing to a physical edition, and even that includes no game redemption code.
