What this means
- Rockstar going back to its 2013 GTA 5 mural corner reads like a deliberate launch-week marketing playbook — outdoor ads are arriving in the final weeks.
- Don't visit hoping to see it in person next year: it's temporary and may be painted over before the game even releases.
- October 15 trailer speculation is fan guessing with no evidence — enjoy the mural, don't bet on dates.
Key facts
- Location: corner of Wythe Avenue and North 11th Street, Brooklyn, New York — same corner as Rockstar's GTA 5 mural in 2013
- Source: Notebookcheck (Oct 8, updated Oct 10), Reddit firsthand posts by artist u/Omfish; corroborated by RockstarINTEL and Kotaku
- What changed: artist says the mural was expected to be completed by Oct 9; it's a temporary ad, up only about a month
A huge GTA 6 mural going up in Brooklyn, New York is nearly complete — and the artist behind it has shared how and when it finishes. The hand-painted advertisement covers a building at the corner of Wythe Avenue and North 11th Street, and shows the Grand Theft Auto logo alongside Jason and Lucia holding weapons, framed by palm trees.
The spot is no accident: Rockstar reportedly used the same corner for a GTA 5 mural back in 2013. The GTA 5 artwork also appeared only weeks before that game's launch, accompanied by a broader wave of outdoor advertising across New York. Returning to the same corner 13 years later, once again weeks before launch, has fans reading it as a sign that Rockstar is entering the final stretch of its marketing campaign.
Artist u/Omfish spoke out on Reddit, claiming to be personally involved in the project. He says the mural was expected to be completed as early as Friday, October 9, with total work of one to two weeks in daily shifts of eight to ten hours. He is working as a freelance muralist for a company called Colossal, which — according to him — was previously involved in hand-painted advertisements for GTA: San Andreas.
One catch: the artwork is a temporary advertising installation expected to remain in place for only about a month — meaning it could be painted over even before GTA 6 launches on November 19. The planned completion has also sparked fan speculation about a possible trailer date (October 15 has been floated), but there is currently no concrete evidence of an upcoming announcement.
