What this means

  • A Q1 2027 PC launch would slash the traditional GTA wait — V took ~19 months, RDR2 ~12.
  • Nothing is official: treat this as a strong rumor, not a launch promise, until Rockstar says a word.
  • PC launch timing matters because Rockstar's multiplayer and FiveM roleplay ecosystem live on PC.
  • Console players face no change — November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S stands.

Key facts

  • Reported: October 13, 2026 (GamesBeat)
  • Claim: GTA 6 PC version targeting "within the first three months of 2027"
  • Sources: Four industry sources familiar with Rockstar's plans; independent echo from VGC's Andy Robinson (February 2027)
  • Official status: Rockstar has not commented; PC version unannounced

Grand Theft Auto VI could land on PC far sooner than anyone expected. GamesBeat reported on October 13 that Rockstar plans to release the PC version of GTA VI within the first three months of 2027, citing four industry sources who are familiar with the studio's plans.

The report did not come with an official announcement — Rockstar has not commented on the PC version at all, and it remains unannounced, with the official launch set for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.

There is independent corroboration for the early-PC theory. VGC's Andy Robinson said on the VGC podcast roughly a month earlier that the PC version could arrive as soon as February 2027, lining up with the GamesBeat window.

If true, it would be the shortest console-to-PC gap in GTA history. Grand Theft Auto V took roughly 19 months to reach PC and Red Dead Redemption 2 about 12 — a Q1 2027 GTA VI port would mean a wait of just 2 to 4 months.

GamesBeat's theory for the rush: Rockstar's 2027 plans for online multiplayer plus the PC-only FiveM roleplay ecosystem and user-generated content tools. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told Bloomberg in May that Rockstar "always starts on console," adding that PC can represent 45 to 50 percent of sales on some titles. Separately, Xbox CSO Matthew Ball denied an October 7 report claiming Xbox would hold exclusive streaming rights for the game.
