Grand Theft Auto 6 will be officially eligible for The Game Awards 2026 — by a single day. The Game Awards' updated FAQ confirms the cutoff: "Games must be made commercially available to customers on or before Friday 20 November 2026 at 9pm PT." GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026, slipping under the line with a day to spare.
The FAQ also sets a November 30, 2026 ship date for the Players' Voice category, so GTA 6 qualifies there too. IGN, Polygon, Eurogamer and Kotaku have all confirmed the eligibility.
That sets up one of the most loaded Game of the Year races in the show's history: GTA 6 will have barely three weeks on shelves when voting happens, and critics may not have review copies in hand with much lead time. If Rockstar sends codes late, judges would have very little time to decide.
Nominations have not been announced yet. But one thing is certain — December's showdown just became the most anticipated awards race in years.
