What this means

  • This is the most detailed official look yet at GTA 6's adult content — straight from the ratings board, not a leak.
  • Expect similar ESRB descriptors to surface in the US listing; both boards describe the same game content.
  • The level of interactivity described (drugs from inventory, nightclub interactions) suggests Rockstar built deeper systems around this content than simple scripted scenes.
  • If you were hoping the game would soften its edge, this rating settles it: GTA 6 goes further than GTA 5.

Key facts

  • Date: PEGI published the rating on Friday, October 2, 2026; pulled the same day.
  • Rating: PEGI 18 for Grand Theft Auto VI.
  • Violence: "Bloody with a high degree of realism," detailed decapitation and dismemberment.
  • Drugs: "Frequent and prominent"; cocaine can be carried and snorted from the player's hand at any time.
  • Source: Video Games Chronicle, from the now-pulled PEGI listing.

Europe's PEGI rating board published its age rating for Grand Theft Auto 6 on Friday, October 2 — and it came with one of the most detailed content breakdowns the board has ever posted. The rating was pulled from PEGI's website shortly after going live.

According to the now-pulled PEGI listing, reported by Video Games Chronicle, GTA 6 has been given a PEGI 18 rating. The listing described violence as "bloody with a high degree of realism," with certain weapons causing detailed decapitation and dismemberment.

On drugs, the rating described use as "frequent and prominent," saying players can partake in drug use with other characters and use illegal drugs directly from their inventory — with cocaine able to be carried around and snorted "directly from their hand at any time."

The sexual content description covers nudity, scenes of intercourse, and occasional scenes of sexual fetishes. It also describes in-game nightclubs where players can pay for private dances, during which the game allows the player to move their hands onto the dancers' breasts and buttocks. Domestic animals appear in the game and can be harmed by the player, though with less injury detail than human characters.

The PEGI 18 rating lands just days after GTA 6 received its official ESRB "M for Mature" rating with seven content warnings. It is the first detailed confirmation from an official ratings board of just how far Rockstar is pushing Vice City this time. Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Reported by VGC (Tier 2) from PEGI's own listing, published and then pulled on October 2, 2026. A direct check of pegi.info on October 6 showed no GTA VI entry, consistent with the rating having been removed.
