What this means

  • The Sony co-marketing deal is visibly shaping how the game is sold on TV — Xbox players are getting a game whose own ads won't mention their console.
  • A broadcast-safe edit was inevitable for network TV, but it confirms Rockstar is treating the launch trailer as the definitive marketing cut.
  • The extended shots prove the TV versions aren't just trims — Rockstar re-edited the trailer for broadcast, a sign more ad variants are coming.

Key facts

  • Aired: First commercial aired on NBC Sports around October 20–21, 2026.
  • What's different: 30-second spot cuts the Jason/Lucia shower scenes; longer airplane and car shots; Xbox logo removed.
  • 90-second version: Keeps the shower scenes and the extended shots.
  • Why no Xbox logo: Attributed to Rockstar's reported promotional deal with Sony; the game still launches on Xbox Series X|S.
  • Source: GameSpot report (October 22), comparison via IGN of fan account GTA 6 Countdown's frame-by-frame video.

Rockstar's GTA 6 marketing push has hit television, and sharp-eyed fans have already spotted the differences. A 30-second GTA 6 TV spot — an edited cut of the game's launch trailer — trims out the steamy shower scenes featuring Jason and Lucia, while quietly dropping the Xbox Series X|S logo from the branding.

The first commercial aired on NBC Sports, and fan account GTA 6 Countdown published a frame-by-frame comparison on October 21. The comparison shows that while the shower scenes are gone from the 30-second edit, other moments got a little more breathing room: a slightly longer airplane sequence and an extended shot of Jason and Lucia standing next to their car, where Jason playfully nudges Lucia and she nearly topples over.

The missing Xbox logo is the bigger talking point. GameSpot notes the Xbox branding was removed entirely, most likely because of Rockstar's reported co-marketing deal with Sony — the same reason PlayStation branding dominates GTA 6's official ads. A 90-second version of the TV spot, meanwhile, keeps the shower scenes along with the longer sequences.

Rockstar's marketing machine is now in full swing less than a month before launch. Beyond TV, the push includes real-life Burger Shot and Cluckin' Bell pop-ups and the ongoing real-world transformation of Miami into Vice City. GTA 6 launches November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
